Fine Arts

Artistic works from the 15th to 21st century are grouped in the Groeninge Museum and the Arents House. Forum + [Concertgebouw], which is linked to the Groeninge Museum, is its contemporary art platform.

* In the Groeningemuseum:
> Until 11.07.2010, the permanent collection is accessible, which shows a rich and fascinating array of artworks from the southern Netherlands (Belgium) over a period of six centuries. Highlights include the world-famous collection of works by the Flemish Primitives, paintings by various Renaissance and Baroque masters, several interesting pieces from the Neo-classical and Realistic periods of the 18th and 19th centuries, milestones from the Symbolist and Modernist movements, masterpieces by the Flemish Expressionists and a varied selection of Post-1945 modern art.
> 12.07.2010 – 01.08.2010: only rooms 1 to 4 are accessible
> 02.08.2010 - 28.10.2010: closed for installation exhibition
> 29.10.2010 - 30.01.2011: exhibition ‘Van Eyck to Dürer’. The permanent collection is not on display in this period.
> 31.01.2011 - 02.04.2011 closed for re-installation of the museum

* In Arents House there are both various exhibitions of among others the rich drawing collection of the Steinmetzkabinet and a permanent presentation around the British-Bruges artist Frank Brangwyn.

* Forum+ [Concertgebouw], which is linked to the Groeninge Museum, is its contemporary art platform.
