Guided City Walks Top
World heritage walk
Bruges city centre was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000. A guided tour through the unique historical heart is a must for every Bruges debutant! From the Markt and the Belfry, to the Burg Square, the Beguinage and the Minnewater.
Hanseatic Bruges
From the 13th to the 15th century Bruges was the commercial centre of the Hanseatic cities of Scandinavia, England and Germany (at that time called Orientals), and important commercial centres in France, Spain and Italy. This walk takes you along the stone souvenirs of Bruges’ Golden Century.
Sleeping Bruges
Saint Ann's parish is a quiet district where you can find surprisingly charming treasures. You can admire the windmills on the ramparts and have a stroll along two mediaeval archers' guilds. Furthermore there is the Museum of Folklore, the Lace Centre, the fifteenth-century Jerusalem Church and Saint Ann's Church.
Bruges canals
The Bruges canals, for centuries the arteries of the city, originally protected the city centre. This tranquil network of canals has since lost its protective function, and today the canals guarantee memorable snapshots and fascinating stories.
Flemish Primitives
Let yourself be guided by Hans Memling past the mansions of his Burgundian friends and patrons. You can saunter along sedate canals and narrow alleyways, and who knows, maybe you will meet more Flemish masters.
Fiction and fantasy
The many stirring folk tales and legends that tell the history of Bruges will fire your imagination during this mysterious walk, and will make you smile and surprise you with their popular wisdom. It is up to you to decide what you believe!
Almshouses walking tour
These whitewashed premises are hidden behind a creaking gate or inconspicuous fences and are the charming witnesses of Bruges’ social past. They were donated by rich people who wanted to ensure everlasting life.
Guided visit in Lissewege
It is no coincidence that this white polder village has been nominated as one of the most beautiful villages in Flanders. By coach you can visit the impressive abbey barn of the former Ter Doest Abbey, and then walk around the polder village where the impressive tower of the Visitation Church of Our Lady stands like a beacon amid the white houses. Many pilgrims have gone before you!
Chocolate walk **
In the mood for sweet iniquities? The Choc! guide takes you on a delicious ramble past countless chocolate shops, and spoil your taste buds with wonderful chocolate. Time to arouse the sweet tooth within you!
Architecture of the 21st century *
Even though it is on the UNESCO world heritage list, Bruges’ town centre is changing visibly. Since 2000, new architectural influences have been noticed in various streets. On this trip you can discover the different realisations of the new millennium, of the 21st century. You will be surprised.
You can also do this tour by bicycle (with your own bicycle). Only available in Dutch , French and English.
